On May 1st, I turned 30 years old. It was supposed to be windy on the day of my birthday party, which was giving me some (a lot of) anxiety as I tried to nail down a plan. While San Francisco is consistently beautiful, the weather is consistently inconsistent. A Saturday in May could be windy and 50, foggy and 60, or sunny and 70. I blabbed to everyone I knew about my party weather anxieties. A friend suggested that I go where the wind takes me and throw a kite making party. In your 20s, the obstacle is the obstacle. But in your 30s, the obstacle is the way.
I ordered kite making supplies and a bunch of millennials made kites together. We attempted to fly our kites as the sun set. Running around the streets of San Francisco trying to get a construction-paper object to catch wind, I felt more like a 7 year old than a 30 year old.
